Greetings and Salutations!

I am Patrick Cheston. My paternal aunts, Mattie Colson and the late Etta Williams, were very active members of your congregation. I wish to thank you again for your presence and preaching at the homegoing of my aunt Etta.

I just wanted to write you to offer encouragement and prayerful support of you and your congregation. The postings on the internet have help me to keep up with the transition and prayerful triumphant of Metropolitan.

I am anticipating hearing from a giant of a preacher as you serve as Evening Preacher of the this year's Hampton University Ministers' Conference.

In closing, thanks for your keeping the faith! Be encouraged!

Pastor Hicks-I have to tell you that when I visited the MBC site today I was searching for one thing, but little did I know that God led me there as an answer to prayer. Granted, I am not a member of your church, however this study is blessing my soul. Here is how,I have been walking with the Lord for many years. I am a member of a new church and I am a worship leader there. Not only is it a new church, but there are many "Babes" there. Frustrated and saddened because of the lack of enthusiasm about God, I did lots of research and put together what I thought was a summary about what praise and worship is. Turns out, my summary was NINE pages long. I then shared my findings with my sister who is an ordained minister who said that my information was good, but that it was too long, and that it is too much for babes. So, I'm on the site looking around, and I stumble onto the Bible studies!!!!To God be the glory!! it is no accident that I visited this page.

To My Anointed Spiritual Leader, Pastor Hicks,
I am one of the newest members at Metropolitan and have been overwhelmingly blessed by how God has used you to bring forth His word through your preaching and teaching. There are still many areas of teaching that I as a servant of God, am looking forward to receiving through your guidance and spiritual uplifting that will help me to attain the spiritual maturity where God would have me to be in ministry. I do pray that you continue to allow God's Holy Spirit to fill you, speak through and lead you in worship as our Overseer and Leader. You are truly a blessing and an anointed man of God.

Thank you for the Bible study information. I had hoped to be more of a part of Metropolitan, and indicated a desire to join when it seemed you were going to move to Prince George's County this past fall. With the change in worship locale and time, it has become difficult for me to attend the services. However, electronic accessibility like this helps: I do follow the email information. I do plan to participate in the Bible study electronically.

I continue to pray for and support Metropolitan and hope the move here will eventually happen. I think the sooner the church can have some sort of Sunday presence in the county, members and financial support will grow here significantly.

Good Pastor
I just want to say that I really enjoy Tuesday night Bible Study. It helps me get through the rest of my work week. I also wanted to tell you that you are an inspiration in my life because I see you sometimes and you look like you are tired and weary but when you get up to preach God's word you have a burst of energy and that always give me the strength to keep going and never giving up on God's power. Thank you so much for all the prayers and visits with my family when we were going through. I love you and may God continue to bless you and keep you and your family.

Currently, I reside in SC with my family. However, I lived in Washington,DC for many years, and visited Metropolitan Baptist Church several times. I was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church down the street, where Rev. Charles Wallace Smith is the pastor. I am looking forward to visiting your church in Largo, Md. Dr. Hicks, is one of the greatest preachers of our times. May God continue to bless your family !

Dear Henry,

Congratulations on 30 plus years of taking God's Word to the people. I am so proud to know you since high school. You have come a mighty long way. I read the impressive website information about you and Mrs. Hicks. You have accomplished much for so many.

Henry, I received the announcement and invitation to attend "An Evening of Reflections" celebration. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be there on the 21st.

I salute you and Mrs. Hicks for being the notable couple you are and wish nothing but the best as you stay the journey.

Thank You for your writing Preaching through a Storm. It was given to me as a gift as I entered into my first Pastorate. I have been preaching for 23 years but Pastoring is a new experience that only God, the Bible and your book have helped in my early days. My past Ministerial experience is diverse from Church Administrator, Consultant for Lifeway(SBSSPB Nashville)Youth and Children's Minister, Minister of Christian Education and even Community Faith-based Coordinator but this new experience of leaving 2200 as a staff person to Pastor 250 could have been overwhelming.
