An Invitation to Share
Greetings, in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During the month of April, we are reaching out to our congregation and to the wider community. We invite you to join us in this exercise of kingdom building and evangelism, a movement we call Metropolitan FRANgelism.
We encourage members of our congregation to invite Friends, Relatives, Associates and Neighbors to worship with us throughout the month. Beginning this Sunday through our Good Friday service, we invite you to bring Friends to worship. Many of us have friends who have been away from Christian fellowship for various reasons. All that may be needed is a word from you.
We also have friends who are members of our church family who have been away from the fold for a while. Just yesterday I received a letter which read, in part, "I have asked God to lead me back to Metropolitan. I know in my heart, if you have ever needed a family member before, you need me now. There is no other church in the Washington area I know that I could love like Metropolitan." My response? "Come home! We left the light on for you!! " We are making a special effort to reach these persons to join us in worship and just "come back home". We need you to be the connecting link and reach out to the persons you know and invite them to return.
We will personally greet and acknowledge each friend that attends. Register your friend with one of our greeters or ushers as you enter the building for each service.
A special worship of Consecration and Praise will be held on Sunday, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. Metropolitan will be joined by other pastors and choirs from the community and beyond who want to show their love and support for Metropolitan through this challenging period of our church life. I will be personally encouraged by your presence and urge you to set aside this special time for worship together.
I look forward to sharing in ministry with you during this very significant time in the life of our church.
Sincerely,
Pastor Hicks
PS. Please print this letter and share it with your friends and family as your personal invitation.
Scripture: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15: 13- 16
