Thank You Metropolitan
To My Metropolitan Family,
After celebrating and memorializing our last service on R Street, it would be hard to fathom a service that would heighten my emotion and love for the Metropolitan Family. Our first service at 1st and P made me so proud of our church family. It was obvious you came to not only praise and worship the Lord for being so good to us, but your participation and attendance demonstrated the support and understanding you have for our church leadership and for the hard decisions we have had to make on your behalf. I don’t know about you, but all I can say is “God is good.”
While some may have noticed a few unavoidable challenges, we praised God and gave Him the glory on Sunday, February 1, 2009! We were almost at capacity at both services, and for a congregation that expected our next move to be to Largo, you helped to thank God for providing a brand new home on our way there! God deserves the glory for working through you to participate in another historic event for our church.
I ask you to continue to support your church through your faithfulness at every level. This is a time when we need all of our members the most. We need your prayers, we need your help in the various ministries, and we need you to show our new neighbors that it is good to have us as a new church and a new member in their community. Our journey will continue to Largo, and it is still filled with challenges, but if you will work with me, with each other, and with our Servants, we will get to where God wants us to be in God’s own time.
Thank you for your personal prayers and best wishes, and I pray that we continue to demonstrate our ability as a church to weather the storm, to maintain our standards of excellence, and serve God’s people as only Metropolitan knows how to do. God bless you. I look forward to seeing you each Sunday at our new home on 1st and P!
Sincerely,
Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr.

Pastor Hicks:
Greetings and Salutations!
I am Patrick Cheston. My paternal aunts, Mattie Colson and the late Etta Williams, were very active members of your congregation. I wish to thank you again for your presence and preaching at the homegoing of my aunt Etta.
I just wanted to write you to offer encouragement and prayerful support of you and your congregation. The postings on the internet have help me to keep up with the transition and prayerful triumphant of Metropolitan.
I am anticipating hearing from a giant of a preacher as you serve as Evening Preacher of the this year's Hampton University Ministers' Conference.
In closing, thanks for your keeping the faith! Be encouraged!
