To Our Metropolitan Family,

Everyday, children are born into African villages where they are taught about their heritage, are educated, nurtured and spiritually fed. Who knew that our village was a church in the Nation’s Capital called Metropolitan?

Some taught us in Bible Study or Vacation Bible School. Others took care of us when mom and dad were out of town, taught us to drive, read us stories and even picked us up from school when we were sick. Most importantly, many of you have become life-long friends, spiritual mentors and great examples of Christian Discipleship.

Most recently, your unconditional love for us was more than evident during the numerous 30th Anniversary celebratory events honoring the unique relationship between pastor, pastor’s family, and people.

Metropolitan, words simply aren’t enough to say thank you! Thank you for the hugs, the encouragement, for taking care of us, praying for us and praising with us! Thank you for your demonstration of love and for being more than a congregation . . . you all are our village!
