A Special Message from Our Pastor

GOD TOUCHED MY HEART!

From the day our ministry began
You took us into the bosom of your love
and together we became family ...
God touched my heart.

Through the years of mountains and valleys
of storms and calm
you kept us closer still,
a love from the hand of God and ...
God touched my heart.

Ten thousand nine hundred and fifty days have passed
how many souls saved? marriages blessed? loved ones laid to rest?
you invited us in to the intimate moments
of your lives; that's how ...
God touched my heart

And we celebrated those days, those years
preaching, teaching, singing, eating
everyone included, no one left out
I need you to survive ...
God touched my heart.

My, my, my ... how many ways have you blessed us
Your words, your smiles, your gifts.
My, my, my ... how many ways have you blessed us
You showered us with love and that's how
God touched my heart

Thank you, Metropolitan for the splendor of these
30 years and the time of our celebration together.
Our odyssey continues
Pastor and people together
You are the hand of God and
through you
God touched my heart!

Summer 2007 Letter to the Congregation

To My Metropolitan Family,

Happy Summer to each of you. My prayer is that this season brings refreshment and renewal to you and to your families. As I pen this pastoral letter we are in 95 degree heat with four grandchildren with far more energy than I ever remember having! Pray for us!

As you might have imagined, this letter comes to remind you of our continuing need for your support in special ways. First, we recognize the difficulty you have just getting to church. Parking is difficult if not impossible. Nevertheless, I want to encourage you to be loyal in your support and in your attendance. The spiritual life of the congregation is important and your spiritual life requires worship. Metropolitan needs you.

Second is our need for your financial support. While you are away on vacation our financial needs never stop – the air conditioning, the salaries, and all the rest require our tithes and offerings. And don’t forget your It’s Time commitment and your gifts to the Hope Fund. Based on our statistical trends many persons have made commitments to the Fund but all of us have not yet started to make the consistent weekly/monthly contributions that we need in order to make our vision real. The construction is proceeding in Largo, the facility on R Street is almost ready for occupancy, but we require the full financial support of the congregation through this period of transition.

By the way, if you have not yet made your commitment to the It’s Time campaign please do so today. You can make your commitment in the church office or download a card online at www.metropolitanbaptist.org. And go to the Members Only section of the website to see and review your personal membership and giving record. It’s confidential and designed just for you.

May God’s blessings be with you through this season of family, friends and fun.

Sincerely,

Pastor Hicks

P.S. I am going to step away from vacation and will be preaching at Metropolitan this Sunday. I hope to see you there!
